Relevant K-12 experience. The school board votes on issues that affect students’ and teachers’ daily lives, including new curriculum, staffing, budget priorities and more, but it does not currently include an active K-12 educator. Sarah is an educator and is in classrooms every day. Her background will give her a deeper understanding of the issues, allowing her to make an immediate impact.
Thoughtful leadership. Sarah will bring an educator’s curiosity to questions before the board to make decisions that are student-centered and grounded in data. She will be backed by her years of experience working collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and district leaders to seek solutions.
An open mind. Sarah isn’t motivated by a specific agenda other than her commitment to helping all students achieve their potential. She’s ready and willing to listen, learn, and work together to strengthen Tosa’s schools.
Provide excellent learning experiences for all kids.
We must ensure that all students receive the best education possible in safe and nurturing environments, with equitable and rigorous learning experiences that prepare our children for success in life beyond high school.
Support our educators.
Teachers are at the heart of student learning. We must honor the expertise they bring to their profession by giving them the resources, conditions, and support they need to succeed in their classrooms.
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
To create a school district where all children can thrive, it’s vital to build clear lines of communication with all stakeholders and to invite them into the work. When we make decisions with input from diverse perspectives, we build stronger support for the outcomes.
